New 2016: Fed Poly Ekowe gets new Rector

The federal government announced Dr. Timi Seiyabo as the new substantive rector for Federal Polytechnic Ekowe on Tuesday, 9th of August, 2016. Before his appointment, Dr. Seiyabo was a lecturer at the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State. following a press conference held at the liaison office, handover was done this week where the former acting rector, Prof. Christopher Ahiakwo officially handed over the realms of affairs to the substantive rector. In his speech, Dr. Seiyabo assured staff of the institution that he was on a rescue mission and he will ensure that their rights are well protected. The Polytechnic community heartily welcomes this change as a boost to leadership and also wishes Dr. Timi a glorious stay in office. For more stories about the school, like us on facebook.

SSANIP AND NASU, EKOWE CHAPTER JOINS NLC STRIKE

The ongoing strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress that has crippled activities in major states in the nation has spread its tentacles to Federal Polytechnic Ekowe has two out of three unions in the school has openly called for support of the strike. Yesterday the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, Ekowe chapter informed congress that it has joined the ongoing strike in solidarity for the reduction of price of premium motor spirit, PMS otherwise known as petrol while its sister body in the polytechnic the National Staff Union of Polytechnics this morning informed its members via SMS that it is joining the strike. Heavy Gunshot at Ekowe Community



Residents and indigenes of Ekowe community were left in shock yesterday as unknown gunmen terrified the community.

Sporadic gunshots were heard at the community waterside at about 2am which lasted for about 45 minutes.

Eyewitness and community residents confirmed that the gunmen came from the creek into the community in search of the Amananowei who rather fortunately for him, was out of town.

As at the time of writing this report, the identity and mission of these men are yet to be acertained ..
